Mr. Sean O'Gorman gave a wonderful interview and delivered all there is to know about the spoken word and slam poetry scenes both in Canada and in Korea. Sean is not only a spoken word aficionado but also the literary editor for Angle Magazine and an event organizer. Sean spoke about working with the LGBT community to keep the Ulsan Pride Celebration going another year after a friend who had started it moved from Ulsan.

Jeshurun Biney is a Ghanaian student studying at UNIST, in Ulsan South Korea. Troy was kind enough to spare an afternoon on his vacation back in Korea to come and sit down for a chat. We discussed how it was being a teacher here in the 90's, running a bar in Korea, being married to a Korean, multicultural families in Korea and Canada, and transitioning back to Canada. On Episode 1 of This Korean Life we had Rogelio Garcia join us. Roy, a Californian native is married with a 2 year old daughter and has spent the last 5 years in Korea. He is a public school teacher, and in his free time plays goalie for the local ice hockey team “the Pirates” and volunteers his time with a local NGO called We HOPE as a Program Coordinator. We caught up with him just before wrapping up his final contract and heading out on a extended global adventure with his family until August when they will settle in Kuala Lumpur to begin their new journey. Roy will be teaching at an international school there.
